5.3 Discovering the Named EIGRP Configuration

Here is an example of EIGRP named configuration. It has the following characteristics.

  1. The named instance of “LAB” does not enable EIGRP, only provide a logical container for address-family configurations.
  2. Address-family configurations for IPv4 and IPv6 default to unicast unless otherwise specified.
  3. Interface configurations are configured under the “af-interface” command. For example, to enable passive-interface default, you would enter af-interface default and then the keyword passive. Note also that summarization is done in this manner as well.
  4. IPv4 participation in EIGRP is still enabled through use of the network command. In IPv6, all interfaces configured for IPv6 are automatically joined to the process.
