BGP authentication configuration is very simple. You specify the neighbor or peer-group, and include the command syntax password <password> after it.
If keys are changed, it is important to update both/all sides of the authentication before the expiration of hold-down timers. Modifying the password will not immediately cause outage, but any BGP packets received will not pass authentication until the passwords match.
